Improvements to land

  • Drip lines & mods from 2013 to 2020
  • Slow-Release Fertilizer Application to trees 2018+, was not properly addressing deficiencies. GET SOIL TESTED
  • Due to High pH, need to spray Zn & Mg & other micronutrients (Citrus Nutritional spray – Very common need in Florida) onto tree leaves every 2 weeks with ground soak until deficiency symptoms resolve (This was me trying to figure out blindly and not doing too bad)
  • Fertilizing everything, including yard  2019 (Again, without the $30 soil test I was not targeting the right nutrients)
  • Sprinklers April 2020
  • Sulfur on plants that need it.  Based on 1 cup per plant for yellow below, 2/red.  Applied May 2020, Shoot for 2x/year (This was actually not really necessary)
  • Fish Foliar Spray weekly Began in Fall 2022, Specific nutrients added to soil based on soil test as well. Manganese and Magnesium and NPK now added to foliar and fertilizer plan. This plan has been having near magical results!

Tropical Whiteweed, aka Billygoat weed, bluebonnet, bluetop   REMOVE, EASILY PULLS OUT  Fuzzy Stem/Leaves, Pungent Smell, pops up in January when weather turns cool.   Host to pathogens and pests and inhibits growth of other plants by releasing allelochemicals into the soil.  Medicinal for sinusitius, antialleric and antinflamatory, BUT DO NOT EAT.

WhiteHead Broom, spermacoce verticillata, aka Shrubby false buttonweed or southern larraflower. MAJOR INFESTATION Perhaps the garden weeding tool?  Pulling up, Roundup, 0.124 to 1.0oz per acre of a product called Manor (metsulfuron with water and a surfactant) said to kill it, but will also kill Bahiagrass  Can send out new roots at every node the touches the ground.  After 1st year you get a woody taproot.  This is a nectar source for the Larra bicolor, a crabonic wasp that kills mole crickets that kill bahiagrass.  Herbicides are ineffective.  Round up will kill it.
